For years the Insurance companies have been able to save money on EMS activities due to the large number volunteer agencies throughout the United States. Billing for service is not unethical when money is required to pay for ambulances, durable medical equipment, supplies, repairs, uniforms and educational programs. Your consumers expect a high level of commitment, how can you provide this service without money? Billing for services will allow your organization to provide this commitment to the community without additional burden to the municipality or an increase to already high taxes.
EMS agencies that bill for their services have a dedicated and steady flow of income for these purposes. DMMB is able to forecast what your collection rate may be. This will allow agencies to complete operational budgets and expansion consideration.
Insurance companies along with Medicare and Medicaid already provide payment for EMS services. There is no additional fees charged to patients with insurance and there is no increase in their premiums. DMMB submits a bill on behalf of the EMS organization and follows through to the level of collection desired by each individual client.
